Caution – possible presence of defoliating insects on forest routes

Please note that in itineraries that include stretches of woodland defoliating insectsmay be present. People with high sensitivity might have allergic reactions.

In the Park, entomology experts from the University of Florence have carried out several inspections.
This year, the outbreak of the moth Malacosoma neustriathe Lackey moth – is truly remarkable and is causing serious damage to the vegetation.
The only positive aspect is that it is not stinging.
Unfortunately, no species-specific biological antagonist is known, and therefore, any intervention in the forest environment is unthinkable, even using biological treatments, as it would kill the larvae of all moth species, not just those of this one.
